Mumbai: Amitabh Bachchan unveiled the trailer for Shoojit Sircar’s Piku on Wednesday with co-stars Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan.

Directed by Sircar and written by Juhi Chaturvedi, Piku is slated for release on 8 May.

Padukone, who will be seen playing Bachchan’s daughter, said she said yes to the film after hearing about one scene.

‘The first time Shoojit met me for this film, I remember saying yes after listening to the narration of one scene. For me, being Piku is a character, which is very relatable. Women generally are born to multitask, so all women will find it relatable from Piku’s point of view,’ Padukone said. She said her chemistry with Bachchan in Piku is ‘very organic’.

‘In the years I have known Amitji outside work, our chemistry came to us very naturally. I remember them mentioning that I remind them of their daughter and they are also very protective about me,’ Padukone said.

Parents were invited for the trailer launch, and according to reports it was Padukone’s idea.

Khan said all aspiring actors should observe Bachchan’s work.

‘It was a great experience for me and if any actor wants to be an actor, they have to observe Big B and that’s compulsory. He follows the director’s vision obediently and is always playful. We all were emotional towards the end of the shoot of this film,’ he said.
