Solo mime show ‘Circle’ at AFD 12 Aug

Dhaka: As a part of spreading mime art culture among Bangladeshi people, Alliance Française de Dhaka (AFD) has arranged a solo Mime show titled Circle by Mir Lokman, a mime artiste, on 12 August.
The mime show will start at about at 6:30pm, says a press release issued by Alliance Française de Dhaka.
Marcel Marceau defined mime as ‘the art of expressing feelings by attitudes and not a means of expressing words through gestures.’
Through Partha Pratim Majumder, a student of Marceau, Bangladesh saw the rise of mime in the 1970s. Since then the unsung art of mime has been flourishing with increasing number of appreciative audience not only in Dhaka but also all over the country.
Mir Lokman, an up-and-coming Bangladeshi mime artist will be staging his seventh full-length solo mime production on 12 August. Mir is the founder and director of Dhaka University Mime Action (DUMA). His mime focuses on contemporary issues, demanding yet ironical situations in our daily lives and commonsensical occurrences. This production will feature eight sketches.
