Popular Bangladeshi singer Somnur Monir Konal tied the knot with her long-time friend Monzur Kader Zia. Zia works as a sub-editor at a leading national daily newspaper.

The wedding took place in presence of a handful of guests at Konal’s residence at Mohammadpur in Dhaka.

‘My father was asking me to get married for quite a sometime. I thought it would be better marrying someone I know rather than any unknown person. So, I decided to marry Zia. But, I was not expecting to be married yesterday (21 September). It was a sudden decision. Please pray for us’, Konal told NTV Online.  

Zia said, ‘Konal has a great heart. We have been friends, and now a new dimension is added to the relationship. We want to be good friends forever.’

The new couple said that the wedding programmes will be held anytime during January to March next year.
