Peruvian actor marries Bolivian tree to protect nature

La Paz: Peruvian actor and playwright Richard Torres married a Bolivian tree on Thursday in his personal way to raise public awareness about nature conservation, reports Xinhu.
The symbolic ceremony took place at midday in Bolivia's capital La Paz, with dozens of people witnessing the union between man and nature.
Representatives from Peru's embassy, curious children and passers-by looked on as Torres wedded a tree, with famed painter Roberto Mamani Mamani acting as his best man.
According to Mamani, the ceremony was a display of ‘deep respect’ for Mother Nature, aiming to inspire the public to care for wildlife.
‘I think it's fantastic. I think it's a show of respect for Mother Nature,’ he said. ‘I call (on people) to plant a tree, respect nature, because nature is life.’
The Thursday ‘wedding’ was the fourth of its kind for Torres, 32, each time to a different tree. The first one took place in June 2013, when he wedded a tree called Sacha Qumir in the indigenous Quechua language.
He next married an Argentine tree at the Rose Garden in Buenos Aires' Palermo Woods. And in November 2014, Torres, dressed in a white tux and red tie, married a tree at a national park in Colombia.
