An evening of music and more

Dhaka: The Indira Gandhi Culture Centre hosted an evening of Rabindra Sangeet with Lily Islam and narration and recitation with Mozibur Rahman Dilu at 6:30pm on 29 August at the centre’s Gulshan branch in Dhaka.
The show continued for about one and half an hour was enjoyed by a full-house audience.
The duo was accompanied by Ruptanu Dassharma on keyboard, Shakil Mohammad Dipan on guitar, Swarup Hossain on tabla, Partha Pratim Guha on octopad, Asit Biswas on esraj.
Lily Islam is the country’s one of the leading Rabindra Sangeet singers. She got her degree in Rabindra Sangeet from Vishwa Bharati University, Shantiniketan. She was trained by legendary Rabindra Sangeet artistes Konika Bandopadhyay and Neelima Sen. She is the founder of the organisation Uttrayan.
Mojibur Rahman Dilu is a TV and stage actor, director, and playwright. A freedom fighter, Rahman directed and acted in the play Kingsuk je Morute which was selected in the first drama festival in Bangladesh in 1976. He acted in one of the leading roles in the Bangladeshi short film Agami. He adopted Three penny opera, a famous play by Bretol Brest, in Bengali — Jonotar Rangoshala — where he acted as a guest artiste. The play was a great success with 150 shows in Bangladesh and was also staged by famous theatre group Bohurupi in Kolkata. His own group Dhaka Drama staged two plays in Kolkata. He has acted in TV serials in Bangladesh the most famous being Shangsoptok.
