Padma ferry capsize death toll now 79

Manikganj: Bodies of eight more Padma ferry capsize victims were recovered on Wednesday, raising the death toll from the tragic incident to 79.
Galib Khan, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Shibalaya upazila, said the bodies of seven people, who were passengers of the ferry, were recovered from the river at Maluchi, Balla, Kanchanpur, Andharmanik in Harirampur upazila, about 10 kilometres off the spot, in the morning.
Local people found the bodies and informed the rescue team that recovered the bodies at about 11:00am. The search operation will continue until the recovery of the bodies of the missing people, said the UNO.
Five of the deceased were identified as Abul Hashem Hashu of Dakkhin Teuta village, Sanjib Sutradhar of Choto Boali village, Sohrab Ali Elachipur village in Shibalaya upaizla, Imon Molla of Shametpur village in Daulatpur upazila and Lipi Akhter of Kumarkhali upazila in Kushtia.
Besides, another body of an unidentified child was recovered from Dhoair village in Dohar upazila of Dhaka district in the morning, said Mahmudul Haque, officer-in-charge of Dohar Police Station.
Besides, at least four passengers remained missing after four days of the incident.
Earlier on Sunday, a ferry carrying more than 150 passengers, sank in the river at about 11:45 am on Sunday after it was hit by a fertiliser-laden trawler, Nargis-1, while it was heading towards Daulatdia ferry terminal from Paturia.
