Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the government will build model mosque in all districts and upazilas across Bangladesh to facilitate Islamic education.

Sheikh Hasina came up with the remark while addressing a function marking the 40th founding anniversary of the Islamic Foundation at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre on Sunday.

The prime minister said the Foundation has been directed to materialise the project.

Sheikh Hasina said, ‘The government’s aim is to build modern mosques in every district and upazila in the country. Islamic and cultural education will be provided through these mosques. The design of the mosques has already been called. There are separate places for women in these mosques.’

The premier said various activities including, funeral arrangements and to provide knowledge for pilgrimages will be conducted in the model mosques.

About Tk 15 crore has been allotted for the project, Sheikh Hasina added.

Sheikh Hasina asked the law enforcement agencies to confiscate all the land property of those to be found guilty of torching land offices across the country.

‘Those who will torch land offices and burn important land documents, all of their fathers' and grandfathers' land property will be confiscated,’ she said.

National mosque, Baitul Mukarram, khatib Mohammad Salahuddin administered the prayer after the prime minister’s speech.
