Bangladesh elected NIOHC chairman

Dhaka: Bangladesh was unanimously elected as chairman of North Indian Ocean Hydrographic Commission (NIOHC) for 2015-2016 at a meeting of the commission on 18 March in the Omani capital Muscat.
A two-member delegation from Bangladesh Navy headed by Director Hydrography Captain M I Haque, (H), NDC, PSC, BN participated in the 15th meeting of the commission on 15-18 March.
Apart from Bangladesh, representatives from 15 member and observer states, including the United Kingdom, France, Australia, India and various international organizations, took part in the meeting.
A detailed discussion on the development of hydrography and issues related to safe navigation took place in the meeting.
