Comilla: Two people were killed in separate road accidents in Chauddagram upazila of Kunilla on Tuesday morning.

The deceased are Belal Miah, son of Ashwar Ali of Motiyatoli village in the upazila, and Md Masud, 28, son of Motaleb Munshi of Gokunda Sherbagh area under Bandar thana of Narayanganj.

Highway police sources said a truck ran through a local market on Dhaka-Chittagong highway near Chauddagram Police Station at baout 10:00am and ran over Belal, leaving him dead on the spot.

Locals caught the truck driver, Manik Miah, and handed him over to police.

The other accident took place in Amanogonda area of the upazila at about 8:00am as a truck hit a pickup, leaving the helper of the pickup driver Masud dead on the spot, said Nazim Uddin, in-charge of Miabazar Highway Police outpost.
