Dhaka: To honour and pay tribute to versatile late Bangladesh film actor Manna, with initiative of Manna Foundation, a festival titled ‘Manna Festival 2016: Dreams of Manna’ was held at the premises of Bangladesh Shishu Academy on 1 January.

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu was present as the chief guest and International Television Channel Limited Chairman and Managing Director Alhaj Mohammad Mosaddak Ali was present as the special guest at the festival.

In opening speech, the minister said, ‘Manna is not only an artiste but has worked for the welfare of humanity. He is still alive in people’s heart.’

NTV Chairman and Managing Director Alhaj Mohammad Mosaddak Ali said, ‘Shelly Manna, Manna’s wife, has arranged Manna Festival 2016 with great care. Manna was a marvellous actor. NTV will always stay beside Manna Foundation.’

The prime surprise for the audience at the festival was the presence of another thrilling Dhallywood actress Shabnoor. Her husband Anik Khan was also present at the fuction.

Shabnoor said, ‘Shelly bhabi is a lovely person. Manna bhai is still alive among us and will remain forever.’

The other members of Manna Foundation and Bangladesh Film Actor’s Association were present at the fest. To make the festival a success, the Bangladesh film actors Association has stepped in as well.

Hosted by actors Ferdous and Riaz, the day-long festival had a variety of cultural programmes—Stage performances, songs, dances and full of entertainment.

For their immense contributions towards film, seven personalities were given awards at the show. Late director Chashi Nazrul Islam was honoured at the festival.

The festival was highlighted with several songs from Manna’s films where his co-artistes participated.  

Regarding the festival, chairman of Manna Foundation and wife of the late great actor Shelly Manna said, ‘With deep respect, I remember Chashi Nazrul Islam, an entrepreneur of the festival. Chashi Nazrul Islam played a pivotal role for the Manna Foundation and his dreams have come true through this festival.

Shelly specially thanked NTV for its cooperation.

Vice president of Manna Foundation actress Mousumi said, ‘Manna used to dream of helping people and doing something for the people. As a responsible citizen, with that awareness, I have associated myself with Manna Foundation.’

Amit Hasan and Popy, Emon and Alisha Prodhan, Saimon and Shirin Shila and Irin staged dance performances in couple with popular songs from Manna’s films. Singer Kona, Kanta and Manir Khan also performed at the festival. A gala fashion show, choreographed by Bulbul Tumpa, was also arranged.
