Massive factory fire in Gazipur under control
Gazipur: Fire fighters brought a massive blaze that broke out at a sweater factory in Signboard area of Gazipur on Tuesday morning under control after around four hours.
Fire service director (operation) Major AKM Shakil told NTV Online the fire came under control at about 11:45am.
Earlier, Gazipur fire service deputy assistant director Akhteruzzaman Liton said the fire erupted in Matrix Sweater Factory on the sixth floor of the building in the area at about 7:30am.
A total of 24 firefighting vans from Dhaka, Savar, Tongi and Joydebpur fire service stations were working to douse the blaze.
Five workers became sick as they tried to douse the fire.
It is not clear what actually caused the fire.
Around seven thousand workers work in the sweater factory. However, the authorities said there was no worker inside the factory building during the fire incident.
