Cylinder blast injures 8 in Brahmanbaria

Brahmanbaria: Eight people, including three children, sustained burn injuries when a cooking gas cylinder exploded at Kuttapara village at Sarail in Brahmanbaria on Friday night.
The injured are Abu Kalam, 30, Jarina begum, 30, Eklas Miah, 17, Abdur Rahman, 9, Sheuly Begum, Taslima, 7 and Yeamin, 6-were admitted to district sadar hospital.
Of the injured, Kalam was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
Fire service and neighbours said the gas cylinder blasted when Sheuly tried to ignite the burner and the fire soon engulfed entire house, leaving eight people, including three children, burnt. On information, fire fighters rushed to the spot and doused the flame.
Brahmanbaria fire service station officer M Kabirul Islam said that Preliminary investigation reveals that the fire was caused due to leakage of gas cylinder.
The other injured were sent to local hospital.
