Two workers were killed in separate accidents in Dhaka’s Gulshan and Karwan Bazar areas on early Wednesday, police and hospital sources said.

‘A day labourer identified as Saiful Islam, 35, was killed early morning as a truck ran over him while crossing the road at Gulshan-2,’ deceased’s relative Raton Mia told BSS at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where he succumbed to his injuries at about 6:00am, reports BSS.

Meanwhile, an 18-year-old Abdus Samad, another day labourer died as sacks fell on him while unloading sacks of rice from a loaded truck at Karwan Bazar in the morning, said a hospital source.

‘Soon after the accident we took him to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctor declared him dead,’ his fellow worker Liton Mia told journalists in the hospital.

The bodies were kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
