Driver, assistant killed as truck’s gas cylinder explodes
Comilla: A truck driver and his assistant were killed as the gas cylinder of their vehicle went off on Friday afternoon.
The incident took place at Kutumbapur on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Comilla’s Chandina, reported UNB. But the identity of the deceased persons could not be confirmed immediately.
Elliotganj Highway police camp in-charge sub-inspector Quazi Maniruzzaman said the truck, loaded with sand, was going to Comilla.
When the vehicle reached Kutumbapur, one of its front wheels got punctured and the driver lost his control over the steering. As a result, the truck hit a covered van and suddenly the gas cylinder of the vehicle blasted on the aftermath, leaving the driver and the helper dead on the spot at about 3:00pm.
Later, police recovered the body and sent it to hospital for autopsy.
