Shariatpur: A minor girl has been raped allegedly by the brother of her female tutor in Damudya upazila.

A case was filed with Damudya Police Station under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act on Monday, 11 days after the incident had taken place at Kaneswar village.

According to the case statement, the victim, a Class-II student, went to the house of her tutor Khukumoni, daughter of Rashid Golandaz of nearby house, on the afternoon of March 17. Khukumoni went out of the house leaving the girl at the house.

At one stage, the tutor’s brother, Rabbi, forced him into the girl and violated her.

As the girl narrated the brutality to her mother on her return home, she took her to a rural practitioner for treatment who referred her to the upazila health complex.

However, the duty doctor at the government hospital reportedly refused to treat her citing it a ‘police case’. He asked the family to lodge a complaint with the police station first and then come for treatment.

As the victim’s mother moved out for the police station, Rabbi’s family members obstructed her and threatened her with dire consequences. Helpless, she returned home without filing any case.

The girl had to pass all these 13 days at home without treatment whereby she became weak.

Meanwhile, the family members said police will take the girl to hospital on Tuesday following the filing of the case.

Sub-inspector of Damudya Police Station Khabir Uddin said a case was filed on Monday against Rabbi. ‘A drive is on to arrest the accused,’ he added.
