Rangpur: A female garment worker was electrocuted in village Paschim Chikanmati Chairmanpara under Domar upazila in Nilphamari on Wednesday, police said.

The victim is Bakul Begum, 25, wife of Ekramul Haque of the same village. She was a worker of a readymade garment factory in Dhaka.

Sub-inspector (SI) Khademul Islam of Domar police station said Bakul Begum along with her husband Ekramul Haque, son Mukul, 8 and daughter Lamia, 3, arrived at Domar by a night coach from Dhaka at 9:00am this morning.

Later, Bakul Begum was electrocuted on their way to village home as she came in touch with an electric cable lying on the road.

‘Bakul Begum died on the spot,’ the SI said.
