2 killed in Rangpur road accidents
Rangpur: Two persons, including a valiant freedom fighter (FF) and a housewife, were killed in separate road accidents at different places in Rangpur on Thursday, police sources said.
Valiant freedom fighter Fazlul Haque Badsha, 60, son of late Abdul Kader of Bahar Kachhna village in Rangpur city was killed on the spot when a running motorcycle hit him near his house on the Rangpur-Haragachh road under Kotwali Thana this morning.
Fazlul Haque was going to the nearby Eidgah for participating in the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers when the accident occurred.
‘The killer motorcycle escaped the scene soon after the accident,’ Kotwali police officer-in-charge ABM Zahidul Islam told BSS.
After Asr prayers today, Namaj-E-Janaza of Fazlul Haque, participated by District Muktijoddha Commander Mosaddek Hossain Bablu, freedom fighters, government officials and a large number of common people, was held at his village home.
Later, body of Fazlul Haque was buried at their family graveyard at 6:00pm in the village with full state honour.
Housewife Nurbanu Begum, 40, was killed on the spot when a battery-run auto rickshaw and motorcycle collided head-on at Boldipukur point on the Rangpur-Dhaka highway under Mithapukur upazila at about 4:30pm.
‘Nurbanu, wife of Mohammad Ali, hailed from village Shalaipur under Mithapukur upazila in the district,’ In-charge of Barodorga Highway Police Camp Sergeant Shahidul Islam said. Two separate cases have been filed in these connections with the respective police station.
