Comilla: Five people, including a couple, were killed and another was injured in collision between a truck and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Muradnagar-Iliatganj road in Muradnagar upazila on Saturday.

The deceased are auto-rickshaw driver M Rubel, 35, son of Abdul Latif of Kacharkandi village in the upazila, his younger brother Sohel, 32, Sohag Miah, 40, his wife Nasima Begum, and Mannan, 65, of Panchpukuria village in the upazila.

The accident took place when the speeding truck collided with the auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction at about 10:00am, leaving auto-rickshaw passenger Sohel dead on the spot and five others injured, said officer-in-charge of Muradnagar Police Station Mizanur Rahman.

The injured were whisked off to Muradnagar upazila health complex where doctors declared four of them dead.

Critically injured Himel was shifted to Comilla Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated, the OC added.
