Rail communication with Chittagong snapped

Chittagong: Train communication of Chittagong with the rest of the country, including the capital, remained snapped following the derailment of an intercity train at Pahartali Railway Station in Chittagong city on Wednesday afternoon, reports UNB.
Pahartali police officer-in-charge Ranjit Kumar Barua said three compartments of Dhaka-bound ‘Mahanagar Godhuli’ from Chittagong veered off the tracks at about 3:30pm, halting the train communication on different routes, including Chittagong-Dhaka and Chittagong-Sylhet.
Contacted, General Manager (West Zone) of Bangladesh Railway Abdul Hai said a rescue rain rushed in to salvage the derailed compartments.
A probe panel will also be formed to look into the accident, he added.
