Munshiganj: A young man went missing as a private car plunged into the River Dhaleshwari breaking the railing of Muktarpur Birdge in Sadar upazila of Munshiganj on Friday night.

The missing man is Jalal Uddin Bhuiyan Rumi, in his twenties, a resident of Amlapara in Narayanganj.

The Muktarpur River Police Camp In-charge Mohammad Mosharraf Hossian said Rumi went to Muktarpur Bridge in the night by a car.

Reaching the bridge, Rumi dispatched driver Rubel from the car and started to drive the car himself.

At one stage, as he lost control over the steering, the vehicle fell into the river breaking the railing of the bridge.

However, divers from Fire Service and Civil Defense (FSCD) went to the spot and detected the car in the riverbed, about 60 feet under the surface.

However, they could not recover the car due to strong current in the river till the filing of this report at about 10:50am.
