Protests against Nilphamari MP

Nilphamari: Leaders, workers of Jatiya Party took out a procession with brooms in hands protesting various reported corruptions of Shawkat Chowdhury, lawmaker for Nilphamari-4 constituency (Kishoreganj) on Thursday morning.

Parading roads the procession ended at the party office, blocking the road for half an hour at Kishoreganj in Nilphamari.

The protestors complained that Shawkat Chowdhury and his associate Rezaul Karim jointly acquired illegal wealth by recruiting dealers as they wished, TR, selling wheat and rice of ‘Work for Food’ programme in the black market, giving jobs in school, college madrasahs illegally and embezzling poor people’s funds.

Later, a rally was held on the Upazila Parishad premises.

General Secretary of Upazila Jatiya Party Dulal Hossain, Office Secretary Tuhin Mia, Sadar Union president Yusuf Ali, Joint General Secretary of Nitai Union Lebu Mia, President of Juba Shangati Saidur Rahman and General Secretary Abul Kalam Azad addressed the rally.

Lawmaker Shawkat Chowdhury, however, claimed that all the allegations against him are baseless.
