3 run over by covered van in Comilla

Comilla: Three persons including two women were killed and two others injured as a covered van ran over them on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway near Gomti-Meghna toll plaza in Daudkandi upazila in Comilla on Monday morning.

The deceased is Rozina Khatun, in her thirties, wife of Faruk Miah, a resident of Joynagar village in Kochua upazila in Chandpur, Zisan, around 12years, son of Kamal Miah, a resident of Raipur village of the upazila, and Rizia Khatun, in his thirties, wife of Mahmud Ali, a resident of Chandpur village in Kamalganj upazila in Sunamganj.

Abdul Awal, officer-in-charge of Daudkandi Highway Police station, said the Chittagong-bound covered van from Dhaka ran over them as the driver lost control over its wheel, leaving two of them dead on the spot and three others injured.

The injured were rushed to Gouripur Health Complex where Rizia Khatun died.

Rozina’s husband Faruk Miah and son Farhan, around 2 years, were also injured in the accident.

They were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
