10 Bangladeshis jailed in Malaysia
Dhaka: A Malaysian court has sentenced some 53 foreign nationals, including 10 Bangladeshis, to different jail terms under the Immigration Act.
Session’s Judge Norhayati Mohd Yuno jailed them between one and six months from the date of their arrests in November for not possessing valid travel documents and for overstaying there, reports The Star Online of Malaysia.
The others include 28 Myanmar nationals, including a Rohingya, 11 Indonesians, two Vietnamese, a Cambodian and a Nepalese. Most of them were factory workers.
Meanwhile, two Bangladeshis, alleged to not having valid travel documents, and two Vietnamese, charged with overstaying, had their cases postponed for the court to get them interpreters.
The judge fixed January 24 to mention their cases.
