2 brothers killed in Netrakona road crash

Netrakona: Two brothers were killed as a speedy truck hit a CNG-run auto rickshaw at Sadar upazila in Netrakona on Friday morning.

The deceased are Wahid Ali, in his fifties, and his brother, Moslem Uddin, in his thirties.

At least four people were injured during the accident. The injured are, Hobi Mia, Al-Amin, Paltan Mia, and auto rickshaw driver, Ujjal.

Local people said three of the injured are members of a family.

All of the victims are residents of the village of Rupchandrapur at Charmushia union of Atpara upazila in Netrokona.

The Netrakona Model Police Officer-in-charge Abu Taher Dewan said the deceased were day labours.

The OC said the brothers were going to work through the auto rickshaw. A speedy truck hit a CNG-run auto rickshaw near Dugia Bazar at Sadar upazila of Atpara and left one dead on the spot and five others injured.

Local people recovered the injured and took them to Netrakona Modern Hospital. Later, three injured in critical condition were shifted to Mymensigh Medical College Hospital. Moslem Uddin died on the way to Mymensigh hospital.

OC said the truck driver fled from the spot leaving behind the vehicle immediately after the incident.
