Bandarban: At least four people, including three minors, were killed and 23 others injured as a jeep fell into a ditch after hitting a roadside tree in hilly Mirinza tourist area of Lama upazila on Monday.

The deceased are Jahidul Islam, 10, son of Abdur Rahman, and Sarwar Hossain, 12, son of Muhammad Shafi of Nayapara, Md Asad, son of Mozammel Haque of Panbazar village in Alikadam upazila, and Manjur Alam, 42, son of Azizur Rahman of Batua Bazar Madrasah para in Cox's Bazar.

Officer-in-charge of Lama Police Station Anwar Hossain said the Chakaria-bound jeep plunged into the ditch from the hilly road in the morning after crashing into a tree, killing two children on the spot and injuring several people.

Station officer of Lama Fire Service and Civil Defence Ripon Kumar Malakar said they recovered the bodies of the minors, rescued the injured and sent them to Chakaria Health Complex.

Resident Medical Officer at the hospital Mohammad Akhsar said they declared two of the injured dead and referred 15 others to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
