Joint production films to remain postponed till new policy
Dhaka: Bangladesh Information Ministry has decided to keep suspended the production of joint-venture films with other countries until a new policy is formulated in this regard.
The decision was taken a meeting between Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu and the representatives of Bangladesh Chalachitra Paribar, a platform of 16 film industry unions, held at the Information Ministry on Sunday.
At the meeting, Bangladesh Chalachitra Paribar placed some proposals for proper flourish and development of the country's film industry, said a PID hand out.
The ministry decided to formulate a complete and time-befitting joint film production policy soon and buy 50 high-definition (HD) projectors under Bangladesh Film Development Corporation for adding to the projection activities of movie houses.
Renowned film actor Farooque, president of Bangladesh Cholochitro Shilpi Samiti Misha Saudagar, its general secretary Zayed Khan, Director General of Bangladesh Television SM Haroon-or-Rashid, BFDC Managing Director Tapan Kumar Ghosh, Vice-chairman of Bangladesh Film Censor Board Md Zakir Hossain, and directors Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar and Badiul Alam Khokhon were present at the meeting.
