Jamalpur: Four people were killed and three others injured when a train hit a battery-run easy-bike at a level crossing in Jamalpur municipality area on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Sanwar Hossain, 40, a conservancy worker of Sadar Police Station, Mir Hossain, 34, Entaz Ali, 50, and easy-bike driver Abdur Rahim, 40. All of them are residents of Kampapur of Jamalpur municipality.

Nasirul Islam Majumdar, officer-in-charge of Jamalpur Railway Police Station, said the Dewanganj-bound local train smashed the easy-bike at Chandra level crossing around 5 pm, leaving a man dead on the spot and six other people injured.

Three of the injured died on the way to hospital.

Two of the injured were admitted to Jamalpur Sadar Hospital while two others were referred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
