Comilla: Two people were killed and two others injured in separate two road accidents on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Chandina upazila on Monday morning.

A shopkeeper was killed and two others were injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Bagur bus stand in Chandina upazila.

Abdus Salam, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Moynamoti Highway Police said the accident took place when the driver of a Comilla-bound sand-laden truck from Daudkandi lost control over its steering and hit a roadside shop, killing shop owner Abul Kashem on the spot and injuring the truck driver and his helper.

Later, police sent the body to Comilla Medical College Hospital.

In another incident, a butcher was killed in Chandina bus stand area when a speeding truck hit him as the driver lost control over its wheels and fell into a roadside ditch, leaving Abu Yusuf, about 30 years old, from Radhanagar village in Debiddar upazila on the spot.

Police seized the truck but its driver managed to flee the scene, added officer-in-charge Mahbub Alam.
