Sherpur: Two people were killed and six others injured in a road accident at Tetultala Bazar in Jhenaigati upazila of Sherpur on Saturday night.

Witnesses said the accident took place when a battery-run auto-rickshaw collided with a private car around 8 pm, leaving auto-rickshaw passenger Haji Shaheb Ali, in his fifties, from Ghaghra village in Jhenaigati upazila, dead on the spot and seven others of both the vehicles injured.

One of injured, Firoz Miah, around 40 years, of Patalpur village, died on the way when they were being moved to hospital, said officer-in-charge of Jhenaigati Police Station Biplab Kumar Biswas.
