Six people, including two women, were killed and 25 others were injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck on Dhaka-Khulna Highway in Borashur area of Kashiani upazila in Gopalganj on early Saturday.

Kashiani Police Station officer-in-charge (investigation) Mohammad Jakaria Hossain said the accident occurred when the Pirojpur-bound bus of Seba Green Line collided with a Dhaka-bound cement-laden truck on the highway around 5:30am, leaving six people dead on the spot and 25 others injured, reports the UNB.

Three of the injured were in a critical condition and they were sent to Faridpur Medical College and Hospital and some of the injured were taken to Kashiani Upazila Health Complex, said the OC.

Both the vehicles were smashed in the accident that interrupted traffic movement on the highway, he added.

However, the details about the deceased could not be known immediately.

Fire Service and Highway Police were conducting a rescue operation, said the officer.
