Rooppur nuke plant issues to be addressed: Rosatom DG
Alexey Likhachev, Director General of Russia’s state-run atomic energy body Rosatom, on Thursday said all the issues relating to the plant will be addressed.
The Rosatom top official came up with the assurance when he met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina before the inauguration of the first concrete pouring work on the much-awaited Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant at its office at Ishwardi in Pabna, reports the UNB.
At the meeting, Alexey Likhachev congratulated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for taking initiatives for constructing the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told reporters after the meeting.
He said Likhachev described power as the key to economic uplift and said India might join the project.
The Prime Minister thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin for extending assistance to the construction of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant. ‘I’m happy to see that the mega project is being implemented smoothly,’ she said.
Pointing out that Bangladesh has special relations with Russia, Sheikh Hasina recalled with profound respect Moscow’s contributions to its Liberation War in 1971.
