A 21-year-old newlywed businessman lodged a complaint with Osmania University (OU) police, Hyderabad, on Sunday, alleging that his in-laws kidnapped his wife, reports the Khaleej Times.

The complainant, B Sai Kiran, was in love with 19-year-old Bhargavi and studied intermediate together at a private college in Tarnaka a few years ago. The girl’s parents were against their marriage as Sai Kiran belongs to a different caste, according to The Times of India report.

On December 19, Sai Kiran married Bhargavi without informing her parents who later lodged a missing complaint at Medipally police station.

The couple appeared before Medipally police and Bhargavi told in her statement that she wilfully married Sai Kiran and returned to her husband’s house.

This agitated Bhargavi’s parents Santosh Reddy and Narmada who along with their son Siddhartha barged into Sai Kiran’s house at 12.45pm on Sunday and beat up Sai Kiran and his friends and pushed away his mother.

‘After beating up Sai Kiran and his friends Bhargavi’s family members forcibly took her away in their car,’ OU police said.

Later at night police located Bhargavi at her parent’s house in Medipally and reportedly took her family members into custody.
