Gazipur: At least 20 garment wastage warehouses and several wood shops were gutted in a devastating fire at Konabari of Gazipur on Sunday morning.

Akhtaruzzaman, assistant director of Gazipur Fire Station, said the fire erupted at a garment wastage warehouse around 8am and it engulfed the adjacent 20 garment wastage warehouses soon.

On information, five units of firefighters rushed to the spot and doused the flame at 10:45am.

However, the extent of losses caused by the fire is yet to be ascertained, the official added.
