Rangpur: Two people were killed and seven others injured in a road accident at Islampur on the Rangpur-Bogra Highway in Mithapukur upazila on Sunday morning.

Identities of the deceased are yet to be ascertained.

Mozammel Haque, officer–in-charge of Mithapukur Police Station, said a Thakurgaon-bound Himel Paribahan bus from Dhaka hit a roadside tree in the area while giving side to a speedy truck coming from opposite direction around 6:30am, leaving two dead on the spot and seven others injured.

The injured were taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
