Bandarban: Two people including a teacher of United International University on Saturday drowned in the Sangu River of Ruma upazila in Bandarban.

The deceased were identified as Santanu Sarkar, 25, teacher of UIU, and his friend Md Jonayed Ehsan, 35, resident of Mohakhali, reports the UNB.

Witnesses said the duo along with their two other friends were returning to Ruma Bazar after visiting Boga Lake in Bandarban. On their way, the visitor stopped at Baruapara of Ruma for taking bath on Sangu River.

While taking bath the duo drowned in the river in the noon and went missing.

Later, local fishermen and divers recovered the bodies.  

The tourists went to Bandarban on March 22.
