Body of another missing student recovered from Meghna

Brahmanbaria: The body of another student of a private university, who along with a female student went missing in the Meghna River at Char Sonarampur on Saturday, was recovered from Rail Bridge area in Ashuganj upazila on Sunday night.

The deceased was identified as Ishraque alias Mehrab, 20, a student of Computer Science and Engineering department of Notre Dame University in the city, reports the UNB.

Earlier, the body of Sanzida Binte Tanvir, 21, was recovered from the river.

Badrul Alam Talukder, officer-in-charge of Ashuganj Police Station, said seven students of the private university went on a boat journey at Char Sonarampur on Saturday.

At one stage, Sanzida slipped into the river and drowned.

Mehrab also drowned as he tried to rescue Sanzida.

On information, divers from local fire service station and members of Bangladesh Navy rushed in and started the rescue operation.

The body of Sanzida was found floating in the river around 11:00am while another was recovered around 8:30pm in the area.
