No militant threat to elections: CTTC chief
Dhaka: Additional Commissioner and Chief of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit under Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Monirul Islam on Tuesday said there is no possibility of militant attack centering the upcoming national election as all units of Bangladesh Police, including the CTTC unit, are active in this regard, reports the UNB.
He made the remark while taking to reporters at the DMP Media centre in the city on Tuesday.
The CTTC chief said there was no specific information about possible militant attack centering the national election. ‘But we are ready. All police units have taken strong positions actively against militancy after Gulshan Holey Artisan bakery attack,’ he said.
‘They (militants) have no capability to raise their heads again as we have broken their networks. Besides, presently capability of intelligence collection has increased many times higher than in the past. That’s why we have prevented them before scattered militants’ attempt to raise their heads,’ the CTTC chief elaborated.
