Dhaka: The government is going to award the local developers of mobile apps and games in order to expand the country’s mobile app industry, reports UNB.

A total of Tk 1,050,000 and special souvenirs will be given to eight best app developers at the National Mobile Application Award-2014 to be held at Krishibid Institution Bangladesh on April 18, said a press release of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division on Sunday.

The main objective of the initiative is to find out standard mobile application for making ICT activities easy and suitable to people.

A panel of mobile app experts have evaluated the projects submitted by the developers. Of them, eight winners will be awarded in eight categories - business, commerce, banking and travelling; public private partnership; education, training, lifestyle and entertainment; tourism and culture; media and news; environment and health; and inclusive empowerment.

The award ceremony will also be a grand gathering of mobile app and game developers, the release said, adding that some 1,000 developers are expected to join the programme.
