Footage showing the moment a baby is pulled out of a changing room locker after its parents kept it there to go swimming has caused outrage in China.

The video purportedly shows a member of staff from the bathhouse opening the wooden locker and a woman, reportedly the mother, pulling out the crying child, reports the Independent.

It was unclear how the child found itself in the locker and whether or not they had been left deliberately.

The video, first published on the Chinese website Knews, shows a member of staff shocked to discover the baby waiting there for the return of the parents. 

It was unclear how long the child had been in the locker before it was freed.
