This toddler is one cool climber – scooting like a lizard up the front of the fridge.

Mum TanaLee Oliver, from St George, Utah, momentarily thought she had lost her daughter when she couldn’t spot her anywhere in the kitchen.

But eventually looking up, she spotted the adventurous tot perched on top of the fridge.

Scarlett had been trying to get to the pens which her mum had purposefully put out of reach to stop her colouring in the house.

Impressed with her daughter’s efforts, she asked her to demonstrate her climbing abilities and filmed the incident.

Mum-of-five TanaLee, 40, said: “I was doing laundry right by the kitchen and I couldn’t hear Scarlett. I called out and asked her where she was and when she replied ‘right here’ she sounded very close.

“I looked around the kitchen and couldn’t see here, until she said, ‘up here’.

“She poked her head around the corner from where the fridge was, only it was close to the top of the ceiling!

“I was surprised, but this was not my first rodeo. I found her brother Liam, now nine, on top of the fridge when he was 15 months old.

“Fast forward seven years and I am right back where I was, but with our last child and a little girl.

“She has always reminded me of Liam. I knew it was a matter of time that she would end up on the top of the fridge.”

After finding her daughter looking down on the kitchen, TanaLee asked her if she could get to the floor again.

Once she realised Scarlett could do it with ease, she fetched her camera and told her to give it another go.

Figuring out her daughter’s motivation, TanaLee said: “On the top left corner of the fridge is a black box that used to be lower down. It contains pens and pencils.

“I had to move it up to the corner because she would get a pen and write on the couch, counter, wall and even herself.

“That’s why she had climbed up there – to grab a pen.

“Since the filming, she hasn’t been doing it. This does not mean she has given up climbing though! She climbs on top of things all the time.

“She climbs on anything she can get on top of. If I’d let her she’d perch up on top of my Jeep Wrangler! I’ve had to get her off of or stop her from getting on my Jeep a handful of times.”

TanaLee says she has learned to trust her children’s abilities to work out what they can climb and not worry too much about them.

She said: “Scarlett has never hurt herself climbing on things. For that matter, neither has Liam or India. You’d be surprised at how well children can assess there limitations. With the broad spectrum of my different children’s capabilities this is something that I have learned as a parent.”

TanaLee and Scarlett live with husband Aaron, 39, and children Skye, 14, Phoenix, 13, Liam, nine, and India, five.
