Washington: A group of golfers in Washington showed their dedication to the game by completing a round in the midst of a raging wildfire.
Beacon Rock Golf Course in Bonneville shared a photo of the determined golfers, as they casually finished their round despite the 31,000-acre Eagle Creek fire in the background on Wednesday, reports UPI.
‘Our golfers are committed to finishing the round!’ the course said.
After praising the golfers for the commitment to their game, the golf course shared another post addressing the severity of the fire.
‘Viewing the magnitude of the fire and thinking of how many people will be affected and for a long time,’ the course said. ‘So thankful no lives lost.’
Beacon Rock operations manager Mark Mayfield said the fire was ‘a mile and a half away’ in Portland, Oregon across the Columbia River.
He added that some locals were amazed by the sight, while others questioned the group’s decision-making.
‘Some people said, ‘Wow, it’s awesome,’ while others wondered, ‘How could they keep playing golf?’’ Mayfield said.
