Man surrenders after 'killing' wife, police find her alive

A 27-year-old man, rushed to Peenya police station on Sunday and pleaded with folded hands that he be arrested for strangling his wife to death, triggered an hour-long drama.
Eventually, it turned out the woman had survived and her spouse was put behind bars for attempt to murder, reports the Times of India.
‘I have killed my wife, sir. Please arrest me and send a word to my relatives who live in Jalahalli and Nelamangala. My three-year-old daughter should not come to know that I have killed her mother,’ K Raghu blurted out, taking cops by surprise.
Sensing that a murder suspect had walked in after committing the crime, police officials began questioning Raghu. Raghu said he had killed his wife Pushpavathi in their condiment store in Channanayakana Palya, near Chikkabidarakallu, off Tumakuru Road.
A police team was rushed to the spot and the woman was found lying on the floor. Pushpavathi was, however, breathing. Police sent her to a nearby hospital where she is under observation.
On returning to the station, police told Raghu that his wife was alive. ‘But we are booking you for attempting to murder,’ they said.
Raghu told police that he and his wife would quarrel over business and she'd often thrash him. But on Sunday Raghu thrashed his wife. ‘I hit her and strangled her. She collapsed and I thought she was dead,’ he said.
