Police officials meet Dr Kamal at his chamber
Dhaka: A team of police officials met Oikyafront chief Dr Kamal Hossain at his Motijheel chamber on Wednesday to ‘discuss security issues’.
The police team, led by officer-in-charge of Motijheel Police Station Omar Faroque, met Dr Kamal around 12:10pm, reports the UNB.
The team came out from Kamal’s chamber around 1:00 pm and briefed reporters.
During the briefing, Deputy Commissioner (Media) Anwar Hossain told journalists that the police officials met Dr Kamal to discuss security measures taken for him and he expressed satisfaction over it.
Earlier, several police teams took position in front of Dr Kamal Hossain’s office around 12:05pm.
Asked whether there was any security threat to him, Anwar Hossain said, ‘No … we’re here as part of our normal duty. We discussed openly and wanted to know if he (Kamal) has any observation regarding his security and he said nothing instantly, but he’ll inform us over phone if he notices anything.’
‘Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Mia also talked to Dr Kamal over phone although he was supposed to meet him,’ Anwar Hossain added.
On Tuesday, leaders of Jatiya Oikyafront walked out of a meeting with the Election Commission after the commission protested its convener Dr Kamal Hossain’s ‘harsh’ comment against the police.
