Leaking question papers 'dangerous corruption’: Zafar Iqbal

Dhaka: Eminent educationist Dr Muhammed Zafar Iqbal on Saturday said leaking question papers is a 'dangerous corruption', and called upon the authorities concerned to take effective steps to protect students from this menace.

"If you (students) you can maintain honesty, you’ll be able to stand in society keeping head high, or else will have to lead a life like a rat," he said while addressing a function, arranged by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), at Shilpakatha Academy in the capital.

Zafar Iqbal said all human beings are good in nature, but many go to the wrong path due to the social environment. "Many countries shut down their jails because they are not getting criminals. One day jails may also be closed in our country, as there’ll be no criminal," he hoped.

Highlighting the activities of the national anti-graft agency, Zafar Iqbal said the ACC has already arrested many graft suspects and sent them to jails, and it is also working to keep the future generation away from graft.

He said the Commission is distributing among students educational materials having anti-corruption slogans inscribed on those, aiming to encourage the new generation to practise honesty.

Zafar Iqbal said the ACC's efforts to keep the future generation on the path of honesty are highly commendable.

ACC chairman Iqbal Mahmood, its commissioners Dr Md Nasiruddin and AFM Aminul Islam, secretary Abu M Mustafa Kamal and director general (prevention) Dr Shamsul Arefin, among others, spoke on the occasion.

The ACC distributed prizes among the students who won the competitions arranged by it on debate, cartoon, essay writing and poster making marking its Corruption Prevention Week 2017.
