3 injured in Lakshmipur gunfight

Three young man received bullets in a ‘gunfight’ with police on Chandraganj-Chatkhil road in Sadar upazila of Lakshmipur in the early hours of Friday.

The bullet hits are Saiful Islam Kayes, 19, residence of South Abirpara village of Shonaimuri upazila, Imam Hossain, 20, and Mohammad Sohel, 18.

They were admitted to 100-bed Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital.

Police claimed the injured as criminals. Three police members were also injured during the shootout.

Chandraganj police officer-in-charge Humayun Kabir said miscreants fired bullet at police as they were patrolling on Chandraganj-Chatkhil road at about 12:30am.

Police also fired back and left three miscreants wounded.

Police recovered a LG gun, a pipe gun and four bullets from the miscreant’s possession.
