Teachers needn’t worry: minister
Dhaka: Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Monday said that public university teachers need not be agitated as a committee had already been formed to discuss their demand for a separate pay-scale.
Nahid came up with the instruction for teachers when delivering his speech as the chief guest at a programme arranged to mark the World Teachers’ Day 2015 at Dhaka University’s Teacher-Student Centre (TSC).
Nahid said that teachers are respected figures in the society, and so the said committee have been given directions to take this fact into account while positively considering the demands made by public university teachers.
‘I request that the teachers in their turns perform their duties properly considering our effort for them,’ the minister said.
Nahid also acknowledged that teachers at government colleges and primary schools too have problems of their own, and the government was concerned about them.
