Young man jailed for fraudulence at DU admission test
Dhaka: A mobile court in Dhaka on Friday sentenced a young man to one year’s imprisonment on charge of resorting to fraudulence in the ‘Ga’ unit admission test of Dhaka University.
The convict is Sanjay Kumar.
Campus sources said university authorities detained two applicants–Sanjay and Mehedi Hasan–from Lecture Theatre centre as they sat at the test with the same roll number.
The duo was taken to the DU proctor’s office after the examination where it was found that Sanjay fraudulently appeared at the test.
Later, he was produced before the mobile court, led by executive magistrate Sharmeen Sultana, which sentenced him to one year’s imprisonment.
Meanwhile, a team of Detective Branch of police arrested two young men from Ramna area on Thursday night for their alleged link to question paper leak.
The arrestees are Muhammad Jahid Hasan and AZM Mosadekul Hasan.
During the arrest, the detectives also recovered five mobile sets, Tk 30,000 and a recorder.
Besides, the written test for admission into bachelor’s course under 'Ga' unit of Dhaka University for the session 2015-2016 was held on Friday.
The examination was held at 56 centres across the capital, including on the DU campus, from 10:00am.
This year, a total of 43,234 students applied for appearing at the examination against 1,170 seats under the unit.
