Dhaka: The government is planning to introduce a 40 percent quota for local students for admissions into government and private secondary schools across the country. A meeting was held at the Education Ministry on Tuesday in this regard.

Joint secretary of the Education Ministry Ruhi Rahman said the meeting unanimously agreed to keep aside 40 percent seats for the local students at the government-run schools throughout the country. However, no decision has been taken yet, he said.

Another meeting will be held on Wednesday over the quota in private institutions, Ruhi added.
