Khulna University 5th convocation 25 Nov
Khulna: With a focus on promoting the spirit of non-political and dignified atmosphere, Khulna University (KU) is set to hold its fifth convocation ceremony on 25 November 2015.
Chancellor of the university, President Abdul Hamid, is expected to chair the convocation to be held at about 3.00pm on KU campus.
The President is expected to inaugurate the newly built Bangabandhu Sheikh Muzibur Rahman Hall and year-long programme of Silver Jubilee function, said Atiar Rahman, Director-in-charge of Public Relations and Publication Division of the university.
Professor Emeritus Dr Anisuzzaman will attend the programme as convocation speaker while Chairman of University Grant Commission (UGC) Professor Abdul Mannan will attend it as special guest.
KU Chancellor Professor Dr Md Fayequzzaman will address the welcome speech while Treasurer Khan Atiar Rahman will give note of thanks.
At least 4,500 students of KU obtained graduation degree from 2011- 2015. Of them, a total of 2,500 graduates completed their registrations.
Among the registered graduates, 15 have been selected for Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology (PGDIT) and one student will be given Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD).
A total of 14 students from different disciplines will be awarded gold medals for their outstanding performance.
The university started its academic activities with only 80 students in four disciplines on 25 November 1990-1991 academic session. Now the university has above 6,000 students and 398 teachers in 26 disciplines under five schools and one institute.
There will be tight security measures in and around of the university before and after the convocation, he added.
