Dhaka: A three-member delegation, led by Alexander P Demin, Director of Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Dhaka and First Secretary of Russian Embassy in Bangladesh, paid a courtesy call on Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique on Thursday at his office.  

Dean of Engineering and Technology Faculty of DU Prof Dr Rafiqul Islam and Chairman of Computer Science and Engineering Department Prof Dr Sabbir Ahmend were present on the occasion, said a press release.  

During the meeting they discussed the possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programmes on computer science and 
engineering subjects by the Dhaka University and Ural Federal University, Russia. 

They also discussed the possibilities of introducing joint PhD and Masters Programmes at the two universities.  

The delegation members expressed their keen interest to provide short training programmes on science and technology to young faculty members of DU 
in Russia.  

They have agreed to sign a MoU in this regard.  

Other members of the delegation were Prof Dr Andrey Sozykin and Dr Dmitry Bazanov of Ural Federal University, Russia.
